student work

We really like this student video as it has features a picture turning into an action shot. We think this works really well as an interesting transition from shot to shot. We would like to use this idea in our own music video by encorporating it into our comic book idea to move from scene to scene.

student work

We like the idea of this music video because it immediately draws the audience in due to the use of split screen. We want to create something that is like a cartoon and we think we could do something like that with this type of video.

a landmark

This is a shot of a London landmark. we liked the shot type as the camera is tilting upwards giving the impression that big ben is towering above the viewer. We also hope to achieve this effect with our camera work in our music video. it would work especially well in the bouncer situation if the bouncers look down on the camera, this would be used to show that the bouncers are superior to the audience and also the person trying to get into the club with their fake id.

location shot

Location Shots

This is a picture of London. We like the way that it looks quite busy and 'full' in the image. We want this to be reflected in our video as we want to include lots of fast action. There are also varied heights within this picture and we will use this idea to indicate variation in our video and also to highlight the differences within one location.

Test Shots

Our test shots will relate to our final piece as we have focused on us as a group just being ourselves and having fun. We want our final piece to mirror this as our idea is kind of a un day out in London. clearly the locations from out test shots are going to be completly different to our finla piece. We tried the idea of some one getting asked about their id, however after watching it back we realised it wouldn't work so now we will use othr ideas.

shot list

shot 1: the establishing shot will be of the comic book opening to reveal the comic strip which we will return to throughout the video.
shot 2: it will show a clear view of the comic strip.
shot 3: we will then include a zoomed in shot of the first picture within the comic strip
shot 4: next, the scenario in the picture will be acted out, therefore introducing the fake id and the first situation where it will be used.
shot 5: the camera will then zoom out, back to the comic strip. (this will be repeated, but with different pictures, to provide continuity in our music video)
shot 6: the camera will then pan across onto the next cartoon picture in the comic strip.
shot 7: this will be a close up of the second scenario, following this, the camera will zoom into the situation.
shot 8: again, the camera will zoom out of this situation and return to the comic strip. this is where the continuity is included, we feel it's important to include this continuity as it's what is expected from a typical music video, and we feel that it will involve the viewers more. We also plan to include familiar bands shots later on to reinforce this continuity further.

Group Feedback

When our animatic was shown to the class we received feedback which highlighted good and bad points of the plan for our music video.
-In the animatic itself, there was thought to be too many fades as a transition from shot to shot.
-The animatic fitted the genre of the song well as it was medium paced, querky and contained varied shots.
-People thought that the cartoon aspect of the video and the comic strip was a good idea.
-People also approved of the way in which we plan to move from each different clip within our music video. The zooming in and out of shots on the comic strip which we plan to do will not only look good, but also keep the viewers entertained.

The kooks video

We like The Kooks video "she moves in her own ways" for a few different reasons, firstly, we like the different locations used in the video, for example they have used a contrast between a busy city and the a calm beach. Another reason we like the video is because it gives the feel of a home movie as the camera angles and shot types look amateur instead of professional which you would expect from a music video by such a successful band. They have also used a shot similar to ours from our test footage, there is a close up of the band walking and in ours we have have a close up of two people walking but from a birds eye view where as theirs is more landscape.

Ideas

As the song is called Fake Id, we plan on playing on this theme throughout our video. using different scenarios, situations will arise where id will be needed and the character will have to produce it. However, as it's fake id, we want to create it so that it's easily recognisable to the audience to be fake so we will use pictures that contrast with the characters actual appearance. So the difference is clear, we will use close up shots of the person and then also a close up of the id to highlight the large contrast. We will also hopefully use close up's of people who require the id e.g. a shop keeper, and by using close up, the shopkeepers facial expressions will help to show that the id is being questioned.
We hope by creating and sticking to this theme, it will provide entertainment and also a comic aspect for the viewer.
As it is a music video, we plan on shooting standard band shots so it complys with ordinary music video conventions. this is also provide continuity throughout the music video and by doing so will engage the viewer further.
we want to use effects such as black and white to make our video more interesting. However, to keep in with the fun theme, we will possibly add bright and vibrant colours to highlight certain things within a shot.

go team- lady flash

With this video that already exists for the go team, we like the use of green screen to provide a base for good effects. this is what we are thinking about including in our own video for Fake Id. If green screen is used effectively, it will keep colours bright and lively and therefore make the video more entertaining and appealing to our audience.

fake id

We have decided that we may use the fake id title as our main idea so that we can structure our plan.

The focus of this idea will be aspects of being fake and acting as someone they are not by hiding behind a fake id, this then means that our focus is shared between all situations where fake id can be used rather then pinpointing the focus entirely on age.

We are hoping to get many different id's for each person and then create a storyboard. Following the storyboard will reveal different scenarios in which a fake id maybe used. We plan on introducing these situations by zooming in onto a picture in the storyboard, and then when the situation has been played out, we will zoom back out again. This will not only make our video entertaining but will also provide an interesting way to move the video along from each clip to the next.

Band info =]

The Go! Team

The band is made up of six members and have two drummers, which isn't that common but it works.

The Go! Team is situated in Brighton, however are known internationally.

The music they play is a mixture of;
action theme songs
cheerleading chants
guitars
early hip hop
and 70's funk

As you can probably tell the band are definetly orignal which could be the reason for their success.

Their first album was called "Thunder, Lightening, Strike" this was released in September 2004 in the UK and Europe. Their second album is called "Proof of Youth" which is where our song "Fake I.D" comes from.

We have noticed that their music videos are extremley random and colourful and very animated, we have taken this into account and hope to create something with those features in mind.

Pitch

We have chosen to make our music video to the song Fake Id, by The Go Team. We thought this would be a good choice for our group as we will be able to produce a more abstract video with both male and female vocals, therefore suitable for the members of our group.

We will aim to produce an abstract video on the whole as it will be hard to produce a narrative that would work well to this song. We plan to use effects such as different speeds of things in order to make it more interesting. For the video, both colour and black and white shots will be used.

For locations, we think London will be good. This is because it will be busy with lots of people, as well as lots of good locations to film.
